Banquet chair specification for hotels
Banquet chairs are handled, not sat in. They fail from being stacked, wheeled and stored — which means the specification is about handling, not comfort.

Handling is the load case
A banquet chair may be stacked and unstacked several hundred times a year. That cycling is what breaks it, so specify:
- Stack height: 8–12 chairs is the practical target for a standard trolley.
- Stack bumpers — frame-to-frame contact points must be protected or the finish is gone in a year.
- Ganging clips if your function rooms require linked rows.
- Trolley compatibility — confirm the chair fits the trolley you already own, or buy them together.
Frame and finish
Steel frames with a continuous weld at the stack contact points, powder coated at 80 µm or more. Aluminium is lighter to handle and rust-proof, which matters if chairs are stored in a humid basement or marquee.
Avoid exposed wood edges on the stacking path — they chip. If the design calls for wood, it belongs on the back and seat, not on the stack contact.
Comfort still matters
Guests sit for two to three hours. Specify 40–50 mm of 35 kg/m³ foam — see foam density — and a fabric at 30,000 Martindale or above.
