How to read a chair spec sheet
A spec sheet is a contract in miniature. Most disputes on first orders come from a field nobody wrote down.

Fields that must be present
- Overall dimensions — W × D × H in mm, plus seat height.
- Frame material and species — 'solid wood' is not a species. Ask for ash, beech, oak or rubberwood by name.
- Finish system — product and sheen level, not 'painted'.
- Upholstery — fabric composition, abrasion cycles, foam density in kg/m³.
- Test standard — EN 12520 or BIFMA X5.1 and the level.
- Carton size and pcs per carton — this is what your freight quote depends on.
Fields people forget
- Moisture content of wood at shipment (8–12% for most destinations).
- Net / gross weight per carton.
- Stacking height if stackable.
- Glide type — nylon, felt or metal, and whether they are replaceable.
- Tolerance — ±5 mm on hand-finished woodwork is normal; ask for it in writing.
Turning the sheet into a purchase order
Once the sheet is agreed, it becomes the QC reference. Shipments are inspected against it, and discrepancies are settled against it. We attach the approved sheet to every production file — see the QC workflow.
